Environment

Reload (any version) Linux (SLES)

Situation

What are the minimum system requirments of Reload? Answer/

Resolution

The minimum system requirements are: Operating System SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (SLES9) 32-Bit, or Novell Open Enterprise Server 1 Linux kernel (OES), or Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (Linux Kernel) 32-Bit or 64-Bit or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (SLES10) 32-Bit or 64-Bit. Note: The GWAVA Reload server must be run on the Linux platform, but it backs up GroupWise post offices on NetWare, Linux or Windows platforms. • Other SUSE/Novell Linux platforms are not supported • Other non-Novell Linux platforms are not supported • The Reload server only supports the Intel (x-86) Platform Server Hardware Disk Space – Needs to be allocated to the Linux server. The disk space may reside on the Reload server or on a SAN or even certain NAS devices. The requirements of the disk solution are as follows: • The disk solution should always be mounted for use with Reload. • The disk solution should be formatted with a Linux based file system, specifically a file system that supports symbolic links. • If the disk is not a SAN, but a NAS solution for example, the mount should be an NFS mount, and no other protocol other than NFS.

Disk access speed impacts the speed at which GWAVA Reload performs different functions. A disk that is tuned for fast writes to disk is highly recommended. Please note that NAS device disk access speeds are slow since disk access is over a network link. When considering disk space requirements, also take into account future growth of GroupWise post offices, and the space that will be required to sustain that growth. Memory Two gigabytes should be sufficient for most environments. More memory is helpful. CPU Speed 3.6 GHz Pentium 4
