Resolution

If users cannot log into Retain after upgrading to GW2014 and you find the error "ESE during login" in the log.

[ERROR] ServerErrorHandlerStrategy: reportError: ESE during login :: com.gwava.authenticate.gw.GWSoapAuthenticatorMethod.authenticate:75 :: EXCEPTION : com.gwava.gweasysoap.GWSoapAPIException: User Database access has been denied , Code: d05a com.gwava.gweasysoap.GWSoapAPIException: User Database access has been denied , Code: d05a
    at com.gwava.gweasysoap.EasySoap.fire(EasySoap.java:356)

The GroupWise user is denying access because a password has not been set. The client will be able to log in, but retain and GroupWise Webacess will throw the error.

Assign a password for the user and try again.

If a password has been assigned and still throwing an authentication error:

  1. Log into Retain as admin
  2. Click on Module Configuration
  3. Click on GroupWise module
  4. Under the SOAP tab enable SSL
  5. Go back to the Module Configuration page and Refresh the Address Book.
