Environment

GroupWise Disaster Recovery (GWDR) - all versions

Situation

Administrator tries to upgrade GroupWise Disaster Recovery (GWDR) and it fails to download and install.  The GWDR upgrade feature is unable to work through a proxy (unless transparent proxy); or, sometimes (for whatever reason) the GWDR upgrade process returns an error that it cannot establish an HTTP connection.

Resolution

If the proxy will not allow the product to download and install, GroupWise Disaster Recovery (GWDR) can be manually installed to bypass the proxy.

Manually download the latest version of GWDR and run the GWDR upgrade again.

  1. Download the latest version:

http://download.gwava.com/download.php?product=Reload&version=current

2. If  there is no internet connection on the GWDR server, download it on a local Windows workstation instead then use WinSCP or a similar utility to copy the downloaded file to the Reload server.

3. Copy the zip file to  /opt/beginfinite/reload/upgrade.(It is not necessary to extract the file).

4. Run the upgrade from the GWDR Web UI. Select Tools drop down menu and click on Upgrade and then GO. From here click accept to accept the EULA and then click on Upgrade Now.

    OR

Run the upgrade through the GWDR Administration Console (in a terminal type: reload)  then navigate to SYSTEM > TOOLS > UPGRADE..

    OR

Run the upgrade agent from a command prompt by typing in a terminal the following command:  reloadu

GWDR will first look in the /opt/beginfinite/reload/upgrade directory for the .zip file before it goes online to download the software. If it is found it will extract it, check the version and run the installation process to upgrade the software. Once the install is finished, the zip file will be removed from the upgrade directory.
