Environment

Retain Unified Archiving

Situation

AES Data Encryption encrypts the blob files (physical files) that are stored in the ../archive directory storage. Can this be done retroactively?

Resolution

Starting in Retain 4.5 the ability to encrypt the data via AES 256 was implemented and in between jobs, when the jobs are idle, will retroactively encrypt the archive data. This can take some time, however, if there are a lot of files in the archive.

Older builds of Retain does not have the ability to retro-actively encrypt the data.
