How does Advanced Criteria work in Retain?

Resolution

You can use Advanced Criteria to filter for certain variables and is best used for special occasions when you only what a select portion of an email archive saved for some purpose.
In  RetainServer/Data Collection/Profiles/Advanced you can add Advanced Criteria.
Variables include:

Subject
Sender
Recipient
Message size (bytes)
Attachment name (* is ok)
Category

You can have more then one at a time and they will act in an OR operation.

For example, if you set a criteria to Recipient is JohnS@gwava.com then you are archiving everything sent to JohnS@gwava.com

If you also add Sender is JohnS@gwava.com then you are also archiving everything that JohnS@gwava.com has sent.
This is very useful when having to save an archive related to a particular user.

You can also use it in the reverse manner.

For example, if you set a criteria to Recipient is not JohnS@gwava.com then you are archiving everything not sent to JohnS@gwava.com

If you also add Sender is not JohnS@gwava.com then you are also archiving everything but anything that JohnS@gwava.com has sent.

With these two criteria combined, nothing to or from JohnS@gwava.com will be archived. This is a more thorough exclusion then not archiving the mailbox, there would be nothing in the archive anywhere of this user.
