Environment

Novell GroupWise 2014 R2 Support Pack 2
Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 2017 Installation - Agent
Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.4 Installation - Agent

Situation

When using the procedure stated in this Documentation, "Prerequisites" and "Creatting a Bundle for the GroupWise Client Software":

The installation of the GroupWise Windows client appears to "hang" when the installation gets to the point of installing the Microsoft .Net 4.5 framework files that are needed with the GroupWise client installation.

This "hang" occurs regardless if you have pre-installed the .Net 4.5 files or not.

Resolution

There could be different ways to resolve this, such as making a code change on the GroupWise side to generate the "install.bat" with the corrected switches to change how the .Net 4.5 framework files interact with users at the desktop.

OR

Modify the GroupWise "install.bat" file as shown in this "Bad" and "Good" difference versions of the install.bat file, Just make the change to your install.bat (as per the shown "install.bat.good" example) and the .Net 4.5 install will not prompt the user :

Cause

When the Microsoft .Net 4.5 framework files get installed, there are situations when this install will prompt the user to either restart the workstation, or confirm whether the user wants to really install the files or to do a repair.  But if the Zen Bundle was created to not allow the user to interact with the desktop during the install , then it appears that the install "hangs" when really it is that the install is waiting for user interaction, but can't see this because the "Installation Action" for the GroupWise Bundle in the Zenworks Configuration Management console, the Advanced Tab, has an "Executable security level" of "Run as secure system user (Don't allow system to interact with desktop)"
