Environment

Micro Focus iPrint Appliance 2.1
Micro Focus iPrint Appliance 3.0

Situation

After migrating from iPrint Appliance 2.1 to 3.0 using the iprintconfig.zip method, not all printers are listed on the new 3.0 Appliance.

Resolution

  1. Power off the 3.0 Appliance and power on the 2.1 Appliance.
  2. Force a backup of the padbtxt.xml file
    • Login to PsmStatus page as admin
      • https://<ip or dns>/psmstatus
    • Click 'Advanced iPrint Manager Information' button and choose 'iPrint Manager Internal'
    • Click the 'Backup Database' button.
      • This will overwrite the existing, corrupt padbtxt.xml.
  3. Generate a new iprintconfig.zip
  4. Deploy a new iPrint Appliance 3.0 and use the newly downloaded iprintconfig.zip.

Cause

The padbtxt.xml file from the 2.1 Appliance was corrupt, not listing the DN attribute on all printers.  Every printer agent which didn't have the DNS listed within the XML failed to import.  Note: this is not a common occurrence.

Clicking the 'Backup Database' button within the /psmstatus page overwrites the corrupt padbtxt.xml with a good copy.

Additional Information

The /var/opt/novell/log/iprint/ipsmd.log on the 3.0 iPrint Appliance in the problem state shows the following errors:
