Environment

Micro Focus iPrint Appliance 3.0

Situation

iPrint Appliance version 3.0 introduces the ability to hide printers from end users within the new iPrint Portal page (https://<address>/print/).  However, the printers are still accessible through the /ipp page (http://<address>/ipp).

Resolution

The /var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs/pcontrol.htm file is called when attempting to load the /ipp page.  To disable the /ipp page, rename the pcontrol.htm file.  An example command to do this is:

mv /var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs/pcontrol.htm /var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs/pcontrol.bak

With the pcontrol.htm file renamed, end users will see the generic Object not found! Error 404 when attempting to load the /ipp page.

Additional Information

To manage which printers are visible from the iPrint Portal page:
  • Click the Printers link on the left pane.
  • Click the name of the printer.
  • Manage this feature through the "Visible to all users in the iPrint Portal" check box.
