unable to use 4 digit passcode with Device Security Policy on iOS devices

Environment

Novell GroupWise Mobility Service 2014 R2 Support Pack 1

Situation

Configuration settings:

Device Security Policy         enabled checked
Minimum password length   checked and set to 4 characters
Inactivity Time                     checked and set to 10 minutes

iOS devices prompt  for the pass code however it won't work with 4 characters.  It seems to only work when you use 6 or more.  Android devices seem to works fine.

Resolution

This is an issue with the device.  To make trigger it to allow the 4 characters, make any change to the security policy, save and restart GMS.  Then go in and change the setting back, save and restart GMS.  Once the device connects again, it should prompt for the 4 digit code.
