Environment

Micro Focus Filr Desktop client 3.0
Novell Filr Desktop client 2.0
ZENworks 2017 Portable Collector

Situation

The ZENworks Portable Collector is a standalone application that is used to inventory devices that rarely connect to the server or devices that do not have the ZENworks Agent installed. This data can then be imported into the Inventoried device list. When the data is imported, you can view and edit it just as you would an inventoried device. The Portable Collector can be run on Windows and OSX devices (click here for more information about the ZENworks Portable Collector).

Filr Desktop client can trigger downloads for large numbers of online files when workstation-based applications, such as the ZENworks Portable Collector request access to them. Downloading the files stored in Net Folders can quickly fill up a local disk.

Resolution

A fix for this issue is available in the Filr 2.0 - Hot Patch 4 and Filr 3.1.1 Update for Filr 3.0 available via the Novell Patch Finder. With the fix in place, the processes associated with the ZENworks Portable Collector will be added to the default Blacklist.

Additional Information

As documented in the Filr Administration Guide, please ensure that the Whitelist/Blacklist is up to date and includes all such applications.
