How to persist Remote Control options such as scaling setting for default on new devices being remote controlled

Environment

Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.4

Situation

In 11.4 and later there is now the ability to use existing settings for scale, etc. when remote controling new devices.

Resolution

  1. Remote control a new workstation, and set the scale etc default settings as desired.
  2. On the Administrator's workstation find the related registry key.  
    Example: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Novell\ZCM\Remote Management\Viewer\History\192.168.0.100~50 
  3. Rename the above to "Default": 
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Novell\ZCM\\Remote Management\Viewer\History\Default
  4. For other Administrators, export the Default and below registry settings from the original device and import on to any workstations that will be used to do remote control.  
Note:  Subsequent remote control to the same device will pick up from device specific registry key and any run time changes will be saved to device specific reg key for future access and will not be saved to Default registry key.  The Default is used only for the first RC session to any device.
