Environment

Novell Service Desk 7.3 Licensing

Situation

  • Installed or updated to Service Desk 7.3
  • Unable to login to Service Desk because of License Violation error
  • Importing Technicians or Supervisors through LDAP
  • Creating local Technicians or Supervisors
  • One additional Technician license is consumed
The following or similar may be seen in the ADS Import Summary during an LDAP import:

ERROR:
Supervisor: 0 Added, 0 Updated, 1 Errors
Errors were encountered for these users:
License limit prevented Supervisor role being added to <user-cn>

Technician: 0 Added, 0 Updated, 1 Errors
Errors were encountered for these users:
License limit prevented Supervisor role being added to <user-cn>

Resolution

For new installs or updates, this is fixed in a second release of Service Desk 7.3.

For installs or updates done with the first release, a patch has been made available. Please contact Micro Focus Customer Care and reference this TID to get the patch.
