Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11 Database
Situation
An embedded database won't start.
From Services.msc (after attempting to start the Embedded Database Service):
The Novell ZENworks Embedded Datastore service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
From sybase_debug.log (if zenworks embedded database won't start):
E. 12/01 10:07:08. Naming conflict: "Sybase" -- aborting
E. 12/01 10:07:08. Database naming conflict -- aborting startup
From sybase_audit_debug.log (if zenworks embedded database for auditing won't start):
E. 12/01 10:18:07. Cannot access "Sybase": another process may be using the file

Resolution
If the zenworks database won't start, check the zenworks_database.conf in %ZENWORKS_HOME%\conf and remove any extra space(s) or erroneous text that doesn't belong.
If the zenworks audit database won't start, check the zenworks_audit_database.conf in %ZENWORKS_HOME%\conf and remove any extra space(s) or erroneous text that doesn't belong.
If the zenworks audit database won't start, check the zenworks_audit_database.conf in %ZENWORKS_HOME%\conf and remove any extra space(s) or erroneous text that doesn't belong.
Cause
Erroneous text or extra space(s) in a database configuration file will cause this issue.
