Environment
Micro Focus iPrint Appliance 2.1
Situation
When attempting to print to an iPrint printer using the iPrint Chromebook Extension, the following error is returned:
Printing failed, please check your printer and try again.Another symptom is that the option to select a paper size is missing.
Resolution
As of Sept 9, 2016 the fixed iPrint Chromebook extension (version 1.0.1) is available from the Google Chrome Store. Search and download the updated extension.
Cause
Chromebook fails to print if the paper size (media type) is not set. Some network printers don't have a robust enough IPP stack to communicate the media type to the iPrint 2.1 server. If the printer agent doesn't have a record of the media type, then the iPrint Chromebook Extension does not assume one. With a blank media type, Chromebook fails to print.
Version 1.0.1 build of the iPrint Chromebook Extension works around the Chromebook bug by assuming a media type of A4.
