Error: "nmas.dll is missing from the computer..."

Environment

Client for Open Enterprise Server 2 SP4 (IR3)

Situation

Configuration:
  • Client for OES 2 SP4 (IR3) is installed
  • NICI is installed
  • NMAS is NOT installed
  • "NMAS Authentication" is disabled in the Client settings
  • "Password Expiry Warning" is enabled in the Client settings
An error is seen before logging in:
 
LogonUI.exe - System Error
The program can't start because nmas.dll is missing from the computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
 
The error can also be seen with nwtray:

NwTray.exe - System Error
The program can't start because nmas.dll is missing from the computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Resolution

Fixed in Client for Open Enterprise Server 2 SP4 (IR4) or later.

Cause

A bug in the "The "Password Expiry Warning" feature, which is exposed when NMAS.DLL is not installed, is causing the problem.
