Copying Volume Data from Source to Target fails with "Controller stopped due to fatal error. Error details: System.IO.IOException: Win32 IO returned 25."

Target: Virtual Machine (VM)

Situation

During a migration or replication, the job fails at the step "Copying Volume Data from Source to Target".

The diagnostic logs for "Receiving Files" show the below error message, pointing to a partition on the target machine:

"Controller stopped due to fatal error. Error details: System.IO.IOException: Win32 IO returned 25"




Resolution

Run a full replication to the container directly, so a new VM is created by PlateSpin.

Cause

If some changes occur on the volumes of a source machine which has already been replicated, the volumes on target will not match anymore and the job may fail at replicating the data.
