Novell-CIFS breaks after windows update

Situation

After applying windows update KB 3161949, drives mapped from Windows to an OES server through Novell-CIFS quit working.

Resolution

Workaround: Map to the drive via IP address, or see if this is the issue by removing that KB patch.

Fix: Refer to the article from Microsoft which explains what this KB patch does - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3161949 - and note the reference to the registry setting AllowNBToInternet which changes the default behaviour of NETBIOS communication outside of a local subnet.
