Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2015 (OES 2015) Linux

Situation

Unable to perform any functions in the Novell User Rights Map.

Get Permission denied error and this error:  Operation failed. See the user-rights-map.log for more details.   I am logged in with the Novell eDir Admin user.

/var/opt/novell/log/nurm/user-rights-map.log will display

ERROR StormManager                :228  Access Denied ! cn=admin,ou=servers,o=novell does not have supervisor permissions.

Resolution

User "Admin" needs to be assigned to a Password Policy and have a Universal Password set.

Cause

Admin did not have a Password Policy, or a Universal Password set...
