Environment

Novell Filr 2.0

Situation

After upgrading to Filr 2.0, users are able to see and access their Windows based Home and Net Folders but any attempt to add files to these folders fail. It was also found that if SMBv2 was disabled and the system was set to use SMBv1 the problem was resolved.

The following errors were seen in the logs and traces:

In the browser:
Error saving file: Cannot execute [writeFile] on the resource [jdoe\Sales 2016\Test_File.xlsx] - Access is denied.

In the packet trace:
Create Response, Error: STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND

In the smbclient.log:

In the famtd.log:

Resolution

An updated fix for this issue is available in the Filr 2.0 Hot Patch 4, available via the Novell Patch Finder.

If you continue to experience this problem when uploading files to your Windows backend Home or Net Folders after patching your system to 2.0-HP4, please contact Micro Focus Customer Care with reference to this TID.

Additional Information

The same issue was also reported in NetApp backend systems that were older than version 8.3. It is recommended to use NetApp version 8.3 (or later) with Filr 2.0.
For older versions of NetApp such as NetApp 8.2.3P1, please disable SMBv2 in Filr and use SMBv1.
