Environment

iPrint Appliance 2.0
iPrint Appliance 2.0 patch 1

Situation

During an import of the 1.1 iPrint Appliance configuration to an iPrint 2.0 server, the progress stops at xx%.  (the percentage number will vary).

Restarting the import process will continue from the failing point and will eventually finish with an error stating that the service did not finish configuring.

Resolution

Change the admin password using the recommended steps on the 1.1 iPrint Appliance, export the configuration again (generating the iprintconfig.zip), and import the new iprintconfig.zip to the 2.0 Appliance.

For more detailed steps:
  1. Within a terminal session to the Appliance (putty or other terminal session), paste this command:
    • /opt/novell/bin/iprint_edir_change_passwd.sh
      • Enter the current eDirectory Admin password when prompted.
      • Enter the desired new eDirectory Admin password when prompted.
      • Re-enter the desired new eDirectory Admin password when prompted.
  2. Export the 1.1 configuration again, creating a new iprintconfig.zip
  3. Import the configuration to the 2.0 iPrint Appliance.

Cause

The Admin password was changed using iManager, which is not recommended. Doing so will cause the iprintconfig.zip to not be properly generated.
