Environment

Novell iPrint Appliance 1.1
Micro Focus Appliance 2.0

Situation

After creating a custom map using the Maptool, how do you get the file or files to the required /var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs directory on the iPrint Appliance?

Resolution

  1. Download a utility like WinSCP that will allow you to transfer files from PC running Maptool to the Appliance
    • This article assumes WinSCP will be used.
  2. Enable the SSH service via the Management Console (MC) for the Appliance
    • Login to the MC (https://IP or DNS of the Appliance:9443) as vaadmin
    • Click on System Services
    • Select SSH and drop down Action and select Start
  3. Launch WinSCP and connect to the Appliance specifying the IP address or DNS name and login as root
  4. In the left pane browse to the custom map file or files
  5. In the right hand pane, browse to the /var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs directory
  6. Copy the map (.html) file or files to /var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs directory.  You should be able to drag and drop the file or files which will prompt you to copy the file.
  7. In WinSCP go to the Properties of the .html file (right click the selected file or files) in the /var/opt/novell/iprint/htdocs directory and change the Group membership to iPrint.  You should be able to drop down the options and iprint (114) should be an option.
  8. Click OK to save the changes
The map or maps should now be accessible.

Cause

The Maptool does not have a method to upload files to the Appliance.

Additional Information

The ability to upload files to the Appliance directly from the Maptool is being considered as an enhancement request.
