iManager 3.0: older 2.7.7 & eDirectory 8.8.8 plugins showing as available or installed

The Password Management Role does not show in iManager.

The 2.7 SP7 version of the NetIQ iManager Password Management Plug-in (10.7.20160113) was installed in iManager 3.0.  Now when viewing both installed and available plugins eDirectory 8.8 SP8 and iManager 2.7 SP7 plugins show up. 





These plugins are not compatible with iManager 3.0.

Currently, there is no compatible Password Management plugin for iManager 3.0.  We hope to have one available soon.

Best practice for updating iManager 3.0 plugins.

A. If possible, always use iManager's internal updater to get the right plugins for that particular iManager instance.

B. If an internet connection is not available to the server or workstation then the plugin can be found here:

(Make note of the maximum version of iManager supported.  Plugins MUST be for iManager 3.0.)

Resolving the Issue.

If the issue has already occurred then getting iManager back to its plugin basics and re-adding those that are compatible will resolve the issue.  It is recommended to get a backup of iManager's nps directory and any custom plugins that were created.  Uninstalling the plugins is not possible through the iManager interface.  This will have to be done manually.

1. Stop Tomcat (/etc/init.d/novell-tomcat8 stop)

2. Delete everything but the base and fw directories from <path to iMgr> /tomcat/webapps/nps/WEB-INF/modules
Example: /var/opt/novell/iManager/nps/WEB-INF/modules
C:\Programs\iMgr3.0\imanager\tomcat\webapps\nps\WEB-INF\modules

3. Delete everything except the iman_mod_desc.xml file from <path to iMgr> /tomcat/webapps/nps/packages

4. Delete everything but the base, debug, dev and fw directories from <path to iMgr>tomcat/webapps/nps/portal/modules

5. Delete all files without a modification timestamp of 1/28/16 in the following directory:
<path to iMgr> /tomcat/webapps/nps/WEB-INF/lib

6. Except for base and fw delete the optional plugin directories from  <path to iMgr> /tomcat/webapps/nps/UninstallerData

7. Restart Tomcat (/etc/init.d/novell-tomcat8 start)

8. Once logged back into iManager it should look just as if it had just been installed.  Proceed to update the plugins with only the new iManager 3.0 plugins that are available.
