iManager Workstation 3.0 incompatible with iManager Workstation 2.7.7 on same workstation

Environment

NetIQ iManager 3.0

Situation

iManager Workstation 2.7 SP7 was installed on a Windows workstation and was working fine.  Then iManager Workstation 3.0 was run on the same machine.  The iManager 2.7 SP7 instance will now no longer work.

Resolution

iManager 3.0 Workstation installs NICI 3.0.  iManager 2.7 SP7 Workstation is expecting NICI 2.7.7.  Since the older version of NICI is uninstalled the older version of iManager will no longer function.

It is recommended to decide on either having iManager Workstation 2.7 or iManager Workstation 3.0 installed on a workstation but not both versions.
