Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2015 (OES 2015) Linux

Situation

NSS pool deactivates with MSAP message
<msapSteal value="true"/> message in /_admin/Manage_NSS/Pool/APOOLNAME/ZLSS64/MSAP.xml (OES 2015)
<msapSteal value="true"/> message in /_admin/Manage_NSS/Pool/APOOLNAME/ZLSS/MSAP.xml (OES 2 and OES 11)

Resolution

Contact Micro Focus Customer Care to determine why the pool is being double activated.

Cause

MSAP is an acronym in Novell Storage Services (NSS) that stands for Multi-Server Activation Prevention.  If an NSS pool is activated on multiple servers at the same time, it will result in pool corruption.  The msapSteal flag indicates an attempt to double activate a pool.  It can be caused if a LUN is NOT flagged Sharable For Clustering when a SAN configuration is also zoned to allow access by multiple servers.
