Unable to Edit files due to previously held WebDAV file lock

Situation

Users are unable to edit a file using the 'Edit this file' feature because the file has a WebDAV lock from a previous editing session. This occurs when the username used to authenticate (for WebDAV) is mixed-case. For example, userABC.

When 'userABC' edits a file for the first time, the file edits are saved but the file lock is never released because Vibe expects the username in lowercase. This causes any subsequent requests to edit the same file to fail.

The localhost_access log file will show a 423/LOCKED message to be logged.

A fix for this issue is available in the Vibe 4.0 Hot Patch 4, available via the Novell Patch Finder.
