eDirectory instances do not start automatically on SLES12

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12

Situation

eDirectory instances do not start automatically on SLES12.

Resolution

Manually start the instances using "ndsmanage startall" or by starting each instance separately using "ndsmanage" and selecting the instance in question.

Cause

SLES12 is Systemd based while previous versions of SLES were sysVinit based.
This is the reason why the /etc/init.d/ndsd script can no longer be used, only ndsmanage can be used to stop and start eDirectory on SLES12

Additional Information

Only eDirectory 8.8.8 Patch 4 and newer are supported with SLES12.
