Situation
Mail merge does not work with Microsoft Word and GroupWise Client
Selecting the Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard and using the right panel that pops up results in only a few emails being sent instead of all, there is no error or timeout suggesting there is a problem, yet only part of the recipients are sent to.
Selecting the Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard and using the right panel that pops up results in only a few emails being sent instead of all, there is no error or timeout suggesting there is a problem, yet only part of the recipients are sent to.
Resolution
There's two ways to complete the merge in Word, one works and the other doesn't. Please use the 2nd option that works instead of the first option that is likely being done here:
- (doesn't work) Mail Merge Wizard:
- Click Start Mail Merge | Step-by-Step Mail Merge Wizard.
- Use the
wizard on the right hand panel that pops up, which results in only a few
emails sent to the recipient list, but the mail merge never completes
fully or errors out.
Note: Tested using Outlook 2013 results in failing in the exact same way. This appears to be a Word bug. - (workaround - this works) Select Recipients Ribbon:
- Click the Select recipients ribbon button | Use an existing list | select the list.
- Select the Finish & Merge ribbon button (the one all the way to the right) then Send Email messages.
Cause
Tested using Outlook 2013 results in failing in the exact same way. This appears to be a Word bug.
