Environment
NetIQ Access Manager 3.2
Situation
Access Manager 4.0 setup and working fine. NetIQ Advanced Authentication Framework (NAAF) 4.10 also setup and NAM plugins configured to do OTP and smartcard based two factor authentication. After upgrading to NAAF 5.1, the installation of the corresponding NAM plugins failed with a 'detected an earlier version' message and prompting the user to uninstall.
There is nothing in the docs to outline how one can uninstall the product.

b) /opt/novell/java/jre/bin/java -jar uninstaller.jar
c) remove the following files
# rm /opt/novell/.installationinformation
# rm /opt/novell/auto-install.xml

Additional Information
The NAAF 5.1 docs include a section on a manual installation - using this section, you can also confirm that the newer libraries (/lib), JSPs (/jsp) have been copied over with the new install.
