Situation

Some applications rely heavily on byte-range locking for synchronization. These applications can see substantially slower performance when run against data stored on a Novell NCP server.

Resolution

Caching of byte-range file lock requests when File Caching is active on an OES Linux NCP connection has been added to Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows (IR10) and later.

Cause

The Novell Client 2 lacks support for byte-range lock caching when File Caching is enabled.
