Environment

Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows

Situation

During the execution of the login script, a map drive statement using the FQN of the resource fails with the error:

LOGIN-LGNWNT32-400: A network drive cannot be mapped to a drive that is designated as a local drive.

Resolution

Resolution 1)
Ensure that the map statement contains the correct syntax, including a leading dot, such as:
MAP I:=.SERVER_SYS.NOVELL

Resolution 2)
Run NDS Repair on the eDirectory server

Cause

Cause 1)
Incorrect syntax. When mapping a drive using a FQN, a leading dot is required.

Cause 2)
eDirectory is not providing the server address required for the Client to complete the drive mapping.
