zypper up leaves Change Guardian broken

Situation

Applying Change Guardian updates using the command zypper up instead of zypper patch as the documentation indicates causes Change Guardian to no longer function.

Resolution

The current resolution to this issue is to revert your installation back to a previous snapshot.

Cause

The zypper up command does not apply patches and updates in the same manner and order as zypper patch. The command has applied updates incorrectly causing the environment to be compromised and unable to be resolved.
