Environment

ZENworks 11 SP3

Situation

After applying the ZENworks 11.3.1 update, the agent on two primary servers are showing as not registered.
If the servers try to run the 'zac retr' command, this error appears in both the command prompt and in the zmd-messages.log

"Unexpected exception calling registration soap service: Method not found: 'System.Net.WebRequest Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.SoapUtility.AddInvokingAuthToRequest(System.Net.WebRequest, System.String, System.String)'"

A ZENworks Diagnostic Center (ZDC) report will show the zmd.dll as inconsistent because the  file size is wrong.

Resolution

Check "%zenworks_home%\bin\zmd.dll" and verify that it's the correct version for the zenworks install/upgrade. If it's showing an older version, backup the existing file to a different directory, then replace the bad file with a good zmd.dll that has the correct version.

Once the file is replaced, run 'zac retr' in command prompt to re-establish trust on that device. The agent on the server should now show that's it's registered. Closest servers should be back as well.
