Saving .sql statement fails with "This operation could not be completed"

Environment

Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows
SQL Server Management Studio (Express version, 2008)

Situation

When attempting to save an .sql statement to My Documents (redirected to a Novell mapped drive), the user is not able to save the file.
 
Error message: 'This operation  could not be completed. The request is not supported.'"

Resolution

Update to Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows (IR6) or later.
