Unable to open PDF files in a Groupwise attachment

Situation

When attempting to open a .pdf file sent in an attachment via groupwise, the users reported not being able to open the attachment. The error would indicate no file association or no program associated to open this type of file. Opening the file manually (after downloading it first) worked fine.

Resolution

Steps to resolve:

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Open the options window
  3. Select the "Applications" tab
  4. Associate Portable Document Format (PDF) with the appropriate application
  5. Close Firefox
  6. Re-attempt to open the attachment
