iPrint Appliance Renderers page returns RPC error

Environment

Novell iPrint Appliance

Situation

Symptom 1: Accessing the Renderers page within the iPrint Appliance Management Console returns an RPC error.
Symptom 2: Authentication from mobile devices to the iPrint server fails.

Resolution

Apply the following two steps:
  1. Ensure either patch1 or patch2 for the iPrint Appliance 1.1 is applied.
  2. Copy/paste the following string of commands into a terminal session:
  • chmod 775 /opt/novell/iprintmobile/bin/cert_patch.sh;/opt/novell/iprintmobile/bin/cert_patch.sh

Cause

This problem exists when the following steps had been taken:
  • A 3rd party certificate was imported to the 1.0 or 1.0.1 iPrint Appliance using the Management Console interface
  • Note: this problem does not exist if the 3rd party cert was manually copied to the 1.0 or 1.0.1 iPrint Server.
  • That iPrint Appliance configuration was exported to an iPrintConfig.zip file.
  • The iPrintConfig.zip is imported to a 1.1 server.
