Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux Support Pack 1
Novell iPrint Appliance 1.x

Situation

ipsmd takes 100% of the CPU's utilization after apply the 2014 May or Sept novell-iprint-server RPM. This problem also exists in the iPrint Appliance version 1.x.

Resolution

OES11 SP1:
Install the novell-iprint-server RPM available from this page.

OES11 SP2:
Install the novell-iprint-server RPM available from this page.

iPrint Appliance:
Install the iPrint Appliance 1.1 Patch 1 update from this page.

Workaround:
Delete the auser.dat in the /var/opt/novell/iprint/<print manager and context>.psm/audit directory and restart the print manager (rcnovell-ipsmd restart).  The problem will not return until a job is submitted to a printer agent enabled for audit by a user with a non-English character in the job name.  When the problem returns, again delete the auser.dat file.

Additional Information

To determine if the iPrint server has received the novell-iprint-server RPM version which has the problem, execute the following command at a terminal:
