Unable to start Tomcat 6 on a Windows server after upgrading GroupWise

Situation

Starting Tomcat 6 from Services fails with service-specific error code 0
Unable to start Tomcat 6 on Windows server

Resolution

  1. Navigate to C:\Novell\tomcat6\bin
  2. Double-click tomcat6w and select the Java tab
  3. Verify that the path for the Java Virtual Machine is proper (should be C:\Novell\java\bin\server\jvm.dll)
  4. Start Tomcat 6 from Windows Services

Cause

The path had been configured to use another Java installed at C:\Java\jdk1.7.0_07\jre7\bin\server\jvm.dll and the Novell Tomcat 6 needs to use the Novell Java package

Additional Information

Windows could not start the Tomcat 6 on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 0.
