Environment

Novell GroupWise 2014

Situation

How to install, configure new agents for a pre-existing GroupWise system.

Resolution

This installs an MTA, POA or GWIA for the database at the specified path, adding an entry to /etc/opt/novell/groupwise/gwha.conf. It will use an existing startup file, only if found in the path of the command above (data directory). Otherwise a new startup file will be generated. To use a previous startup file, either modify gwha.conf to point to the old startup file or move the desired startup file to the data directory before using the gwsc command.
Default startup-file location (dom.mta, po.poa, gwia.cfg):
GroupWise 2014 - /path/to/data/directory
GroupWise 2012 and older - /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/share

Note: The following relies on the GroupWise Service Control Utility, which should already be available on the server. gwsc is an alias for gwadminutil services. By default, Windows has it in the following location: C:\Program Files\novell\groupwise\admin\gwsc.cmd

Install Agents as needed with the following:
  • To install an MTA, POA, or GWIA:
    gwsc -i <path>

  • To install a DVA:
    gwsc -i -dva <name>
