How to rebuild the Global Address List (GAL) on the Mobility server

Situation

How to delete and recreate (rebuild) the Global Address List (GAL) on the Mobility server.
The Global Address Book has become corrupt on the Mobility server and needs to be rebuilt.

Resolution

Download dsapp to delete and rebuild the GAL automatically:

  1. See TID 7015282  - How to install dsapp on a Mobility server.
    Note: Once dsapp is loaded, proceed with the steps below.
  2. Select Database | Recreate Global Address Book (GAL)
  3. Select y to remove the Global Address Book (GAL)
  4. Select y to start Mobility services
    Note: The GAL is recreated upon startup.

Additional Information

(Manual steps) Follow the steps listed below to delete the contents of gal and galsync table. Please be careful while following the steps listed below as wrong database modifications can corrupt the whole Mobility Server:
  • Type cat /etc/datasync/configengine/configengine.xml and press Enter.
  • Search for the 4th last line and it would be "<password>password</password> ".
  • Type psql -U datasync_user mobility and press Enter.
  • Type the password that was noted in above step and press Enter.
  • Type "delete from gal;"  without quotes and press Enter. Please make sure to add the semicolon (;) at the end of the command.
  • Type "delete from galsync;" without quotes and  press Enter. Please make sure to add the semicolon (;) at the end of the command.
  • Type \q to quit.
  • Restart datasync by typing "rcdatasync restart " and press Enter.
