Situation
When using ConsoleOne on a Windows 7 workstation to connect to a GroupWise 2012 domain on a Linux server (using a Samba share), after specifying the path to the domain directory and clicking "OK" ConsoleOne gives an error:
"Failed trying to open the domain: <UNC_path\to\domain>"
Resolution
The problem was resolved by uninstalling the Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows 7 from the Windows 7 workstation and then installing the Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows 7. With the SP1 version of the Novell Client installed, ConsoleOne was able to connect to the GroupWise domain without any error.
