Situation
Not wanting to receive emails with underscore _ in email address
Example: Emails are being accepted with firstname_lastname when system is configured for accepting firstname.lastname or any other format that doesn't have underscore _ in the email address

Resolution

Launch ConsoleOne

From the dropdown, select Gateways then select the GWIA

Under the SMTP/MIME Tab select Address Handling

Uncheck the box'Do not replace underscores with spaces'

Also verify this setting is not being set manually in the gwia.cfg (which will take priority over settings set via ConsoleOne)

Go to /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/share and modify the gwia.cfg

Search for the switch --dontreplaceunderscore and verify it's commented out with a ;
