Resolution

In Consoleone right click on the problem user and click properties
-
Select the GroupWise tab and select drop down to Internet Addressing

Click View EMail Addresses
-
Check the Preferred EMail Address: and Gateway Alias EMail Address:. Gateway Alias EMail Address will overwrite Preferred EMail address

If Gateway Email Address needs to be changed, click GroupWise | Gateway Aliases and remove or modify it accordingly
