Domain Services for Windows
DSfW
Situation
Modify windows COMPUTER NAME (which was already joined to dsfw domain) does not reflect the changed/modified name in iManager or MMC Snap-in.
Reproducing steps:
1. Take any windows 7 or Windows XP client and add it to dsfw domain (for ex:novell.com).
2. While adding to domain, whatever the computerame has given will be updated in the COMPUTERS object (for first/fresh join) of the eDir under dsfw
partition. This can be verified by accessing through iManager or using MMC snap-in on any windows machine.
3. Once machine comes back after restart, change the COMPUTER NAME to your wish and don't change the domain name. While performing this it will not ask you to authenticate but force you to restart the machine. Any how, changing COMPUTER NAME is successful.
4. Now, the changed NAME should be reflected in COMPUTERS object of the eDir under DSFW partition in place of older COMPUTER NAME.
