Environment

Novell ZENworks Patch Management 11.2

Situation

Creating a remediation bundle for Symantec Definition Files
The remediation bundle install points to the previous definition file bundles instead of the current ones
Example:
Go to ZCC > Bundles > ZPM > [remediation bundle] > Actions > Install
The Verify Bundle actions show the name of definition files with dates previous to the date in the patch name

The following error message is seen in the device zmd-messages.log or in ZCC under the device:

There is an error in cached information for id Symantec Definition Files Jan 22 The content is not yet available to download.

Resolution

  1. In the remediation bundle, for each Verify Bundle action with the old date, do the following:
    1. Click the Name
    2. Click the Browse button on the right hand side
    3. Navigate to and select the corresponding, current definition file patch bundle by going to ZPM > Symantec Corporation > [current year-month]
  2. Publish the remediation bundle to a new version
  3. Navigate to ZCC > Bundles > ZPM > Symantec Corporation > [year-month]
  4. Select and delete the old definition file bundles

Cause

The remediation bundle is pointing to old definition file Patch bundles. The content for these bundles is marked Unavailable on all ZENworks servers.

To verify, do the following:
Navigate to ZCC > Bundles > ZPM > Symantec Corporation > [year-month for old definition bundles] > Settings > Primary Server Replication
Verify if the Status is marked Unavailable
