Situation
Installing eDirectory returns an error
ndsconfig return value =2
eDirectory configuration in yast fails with ndsconfig return value =2
Cannot install eDirectory into OES server
Cannot install eDirectory into Sles server
Ndsconfig fails to stop ndsd on server during install
Resolution
For both OES and Sles servers:
Use iManager to ensure that there are no other servers or objects that share the same name as the server you are trying to install.
Any object that shares the same name and context of the new server being installed must be either renamed or deleted.
The new server being installed can also be installed into a different context if objects that share the same name cannot be deleted or renamed.
Cause
This error is thrown when an object shares the same name and context as the server being configured. Objects in eDirectory CANNOT have the same name AND reside in the same context.
