Situation
When the search server encounters certain exceptions (such as Out Of
Memory error, crash due to out of disk, etc.), these exceptions are not
propagated to all the various Filr clients (browser, Desktop
client, Mobile app, etc.). As a result, it returns a search result of
size zero indicating nothing was found as a result of the search query. A
side effect of this; for example, can cause all Desktop client synchronized files to be deleted.
Resolution
A fix for this issue is available in the Filr 1.0.1 Hot Patch 1, available via the Novell Patch Finder.
Additional Information
The fix was to change the system so that it properly reports the error condition rather than returning mis-guided (or size zero) search result.
Note: This fix will NOT solve ***all*** instances where a Desktop client deletes previously synchronized files; but only those which were caused due to missing/unreported error conditions.
