Situation
When attempting a fresh installation, the following error is seen:
Error message: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x800710D8): The object identifier does not represent a valid object
Resolution
Ensure there is no existing user or service account with the name 'platespin' prior to the installation.
Cause
A fresh installation tries to create a new service account named 'platespin' with an auto generated password. If an account already exists with same name a new installation configures the AppPool with the existing account but the password does not match. When the PlateSpinAppPool is restarted the identity is seen as invalid, causing the pool to be disabled.
