BES not following user-level client settings

Situation

GroupWise users can change the Display Name Format of any given personal address book from their client.  By default it is set to "Show first name then last name".
 
The Blackberry Agent includes the displayName element in the createItemRequest whenw e create a new contact record.  It has no knowledge of the user-level client settings.  The displayName it sends is hard coded to the FirstName LastName format. 
 
Customers have noticed that BES items do not adhere to the user-level client settings when they have been changed to LastName, FirstNam format.  It seems that the GroupWise client retains the displayName format sent by BES until the client settings are re-applied.  At that point all existing contact Names will be switched to the preferred LastName, FirstName format.

Resolution

Currently there is no workaround.  This has been reported to engineering.  BES has no control over this and the issue is with GroupWise.  It's been reported to GW engineering and not Blackberry engineering.
