GroupWise Client hangs, crashes, freezes on send of a new mail item.
When composing a new mail item, client hangs after clicking Send.
When sending an email using the GroupWise client - client crashes/freezes/hangs


  1. Disable the Global Signature that is applied to the system or the user:
    • Properties of Domain/PO | Client Options | Send Options | Global Signature
    • GWIA Properties | SMTP MIME Messaging Formatting | Default Global Signature
    • GroupWise Client | Tools | Options | Environment | Signature

  2. Restart the GroupWise agents and/or Client to verify proper sending of new emails.
    Note: This may confirm the corruption of the signature.

  3. Recreate the Global Signature by removing the old and creating the new:
    • Console One | Tools | GroupWise System Operations | Global Signatures

  4. Apply the signature where desired either as a Global Signature or user's signature.


Corrupt default Global Signature or user's client signature. The corrupt signature may prevent the GWIA from listening on port 25 even though the agent reports as running.

Additional Information

GWIA not listening on port 25, yet rcgrpwise status shows running.
