Environment
Novell iPrint for Linux
Internal Development eDir Build just prior to eDir 887 Patch 3
Situation
Creating a Driver Store object via iManager returns the following error.
Error: Create Driver Store Failure
com.novell.admin.common.exceptions.UniqueSPIException: (Error -632) Unexpected results have occurred.
Resolution
This issue will be resolved in the eDir patch which comes after the eDir update 8.8. SP7 Patch 3.
Workaround:
-
Delete the Driver Store eDir object (if it was created). View the contents of the /etc/opt/novell/iprint/conf/idsd.conf to ensure the information from the failed creation attempt did not get populated. If it did, remove those entries.
-
Restart Apache and Tomcat on the server which you are running iManager from.
-
Creating the Driver Store object again. Use either iprintman or iManager:
-
iprintman
-
Syntax:
-
iprntman ids [ids] -c
-
-
Example:
-
iprntman ids cn=myIDS,ou=myContainer,o=myOrganization -c
-
-
With OES2, authenticate with the eDir admin CN. For example, admin.
-
With OES11, authenticate with the eDir admin LDAP fully qualified name. For example, cn=admin,o=novell
-
-
iManager
-
Novell internal testing shows that the problem is less likely to occur from a Windows XP workstation. If possible, try creating the Driver Store object from a Windows XP workstation.
-
-
Cause
This problem exists only if eDir update 8.8. SP7 Patch 3 is in the environment.
Status
Reported to EngineeringAdditional Information
This issue is not consistent. The problem happens more consistently when running from a Windows 8 workstation and less consistently when running from a WinXP or Win7 workstation.
Even though an error is returned, the eDir Driver Store object is usually created. However, the Driver Store object is not functional or manageable.
